Who are you a mom to?
Yaretzi Amara Hernandez 21 months old.
How long have you been doing FIT4MOM and how did you find us?
I joined in August 2018, found FIT4MOM on yelp.
Why did you join?
I joined because I needed an extra push to workout. This was the perfect fit because I don't have a babysitter and I am able to take my daughter with me and not be judged if we were to have a rough day. Being active has motivated me to run a 5k each month, this is exciting because my daughter gets to be part of the races and gets to see exercising as a normal lifestyle. Not only does this help me be physically active, but exercising helps feed my mind and soul.
What is your favorite thing about FIT4MOM?
My favorite thing about FIT4MOM is the networking. We all come from different backgrounds, yet motherhood brings us together as one. Plus, we get a good workout out of it and our kids also get to play after. It is a win win in my books.
How did you meet your partner?
I met my husband Salvador Hernandez at CSUN through a school organization event. In the beginning we were friends, but he had intentions to be in a relationship with me. Lets just say he worked hard to catch my attention. Everything else is history, we married in 2011 and in 2017 had our beautiful baby girl Yaretzi Amara and we could not have been happier.
Tell us about your career either now or before baby?
My career before the baby, is Spanish Medical Interpreter. I like this, because I can work my schedule however I need to.
Now, I am a full time mommy, but I like the fact that I have the option of going back.
What is your favorite family activity?
Our favorite family activities are Sundays Family day with aunties and grandparents. ;)
How has motherhood changed you?
Motherhood has taught me to just roll with it, its okay to make mistakes and not be perfect. Some days can be awesome and other days not so much, and I am okay with that.
"This too shall pass" and "Everything will work itself out anyway" are my daily life mottos! :)
What's your best mom advice?
Best mom advice I can give, prioritze self care this helps with resetting your sense of sanity. Lol Being a mommy is a non stop hard job and we need to be able to tackle down mommyhood in the best way we can.
I suggest reaching out to other mommies you can relate to in some way, either through mommy groups or whatever group you feel comfortable in. Do what is best for you and your family, so you all can live a long happy and healthy lifestyle.
